Malaspina Printmakers
Roof and Targeted Wall Replacement
1555 Duranleau Street, Vancouver, BC
Malaspina Printmakers is a well-known printmaking cooperative that serves as a gallery and studio space for artists, and is located on Granville Island, placing it at the heart of Vancouver’s cultural hub. It has been an integral part of the city’s art community ever since it’s establishment in 1977.
All Round Restorations Ltd. addressed waterproofing and structural issues of the unit’s roof deck by removing and replacing degraded membranes, flashing, wood sills, and sealing cracks in the concrete surface. A new 2-ply SBS waterproof membrane with a granulated cap sheet is installed, with proper upturning along parapet walls and concrete curbs to ensure a continuous barrier against water infiltration. The window walls are dismantled and reassembled with new wood sills and aluminum angles, and the membrane is detailed to ensure effective sealing.
